Napoli close to signing Italy international DF…could join in free agency
Italian Serie A side SSC Napoli have been active in the transfer market following the appointment of Antonio Conte as head coach.
On Friday (June 5), Fabrizio Romano, a journalist specializing in the transfer market, announced on social media that “Leonardo Spinazzola is going to Napoli. The club has signed Spinacola, who left AS Roma on a free transfer,” he wrote.
“The contract runs until 2026 and Spinazzola and Rapha Marin will be the first signings of Conte’s regime,” Romano added. Romano used the phrase “Here We Go,” a phrase he uses when a transfer is close, to imply that a deal is on the verge of being finalized.
Spinacola is a left-back but right-footed full-back, a flanking defender with excellent attacking and overlapping abilities. Spinazzola is a player who can cut into the center or move straight down the left flank, opening up a variety of attacking avenues.
Spinacola joined AS Roma in July 2019 after playing for Juventus, Atalanta, and other clubs. He spent five years at Roma as the club’s first-choice left-back. Spinazzola won the UEF A Europa Conference title in the 2021/22 season 먹튀검증가이드 under Jose Mourinho. In 151 games for Roma, Spinazzola scored seven goals and provided 21 assists.
Spinazzola was once a starting defender for the Italian national team. He made Roberto Mancini’s final roster for Euro 2020. Italy went on to win the Euro 2020 title and Spinazzola was awarded the winner’s medal.
Spinacciola’s contract with Roma expired at the end of last season, making him a free agent. Napoli were among the clubs interested in him. After winning the Serie A title in 2022/23 but finishing 10th in the league last season, Napoli are looking to bounce back under Conte.
Napoli are already close to signing former Real Madrid defender Rafa Marin. After Marin, Napoli are one step closer to signing Spinazzola. Napoli are working hard to support Conte.
