Gyu-min Yoo (best record 16 m 82) and Jang-woo Kim (16 m 78) could have won a medal if they had approached their personal best records, but in their first Asian Games,
the two fell far short of their own records.
Kim Jang-woo said, “I felt that we needed to grow more.
Our mistakes were not enough.”
Yoo Gyu-min also urged himself, “If I want to be competitive on the Asian stage,
I need to build up more skills and experience.”
Kim Yu-jin (27, Gyeongsan City Hall) set a personal best record of 15 minutes 55.89 seconds in the women’s 5,000m (previously 15 minutes 58.61 seconds),
but finished the race in 9th place.
Oh Soo-jeong (21, Korea National Sport University),
who participated in the women’s high jump finals, ranked 10th with 1m 75.
Oh Soo-jeong attempted the 1m 80 to break her personal best (1m 76),
but she touched the bar all three times.
