LeBron James (LA Lakers), the ‘living legend’ of the National Basketball Association (NBA),
achieved the feat of being selected as an All-Star Game starter 20 times in a row for the first time in league history.

The NBA announced the 2023-2024 All-Star Game starting list on its website on the 25th (local time).
In the Western Conference, James of the Los Angeles (LA) Lakers,
Luka Doncic (Dallas), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City),

The captaincy went to James, who received 5,098,872 votes and was recorded as the highest vote-getter among Western Conference fans.
James appeared as a starter in the All-Star Game 19 times in a row until last season.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a legendary center who played for the Milwaukee Bucks and LA Lakers in the 1970s and 1980s,
was tied for first place in this category (19 times), but through this All-Star Game,
he gave up his place as the record-holder to James.
The two players are ranked 1st and 2nd in the regular league’s total scoring rankings.

LeBron James, who surpassed Abdul-Jabbar’s career points (38,387 points) during the 2022-2023 season,
is first in this category (39,643 points).
The NBA said, “Even if you look at the history of other sports in the United States,
it is not common for someone to be selected as an All-Star or similar category more than 20 times,” adding,
“James is one of the three Musketeers (Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Stan Musial) in hockey and Gordy Howe in baseball.”

He Starting this season, the NBA abolished the existing method of conducting a draft in which the player selected as captain had the right to select players.
Instead, it was decided to hold a ‘traditional All-Star Game’
in which players selected from the East and West compete as representatives of each conference.

Milwaukee’s ace Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid (Philadelphia), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana),
Damien Lillard (Milwaukee), and Jayson Tatum (Boston) were selected as starting players.
The captain of the East is Antetokounmpo (5,427,874 votes),
who received the most votes in fan voting across the East and West.
The NBA created the starting lineup for the All-Star Game by reflecting 50% of fan votes and 25% of player and media votes each.
