Shin Jin-seo
Shin Jin-seo (23, 9th dan), the ‘absolute number one’ in Korean baduk, has built another milestone.
Jin-seo Shin was defeated by Eun-ji Kim (16), 7th dan, in 213 moves in the fourth round of the losers’ group of the 46th SG Cup Hankook Ilbo Myeongin Tournament held at the K Baduk Studio in Pangyo, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 3rd.

Shin Jin-seo is the first player to achieve 100 wins per year in professional baduk since the founding of the Korea Baduk Association in 1954.
The previous record for the most wins per year at Korea Kiwon was 94 wins (46 losses, 67.14% win rate) set by 7th dan Kim Eun-ji last year.
Shin Jin-seo won this year’s Yungssi Cup, also known as the ‘Go Olympics’,
won a gold medal in the team event and a bronze medal in the individual event at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
However, he said, “There were so many matches this year that we were able to get up to 100 wins.
Although the performance is disappointing, I think just getting 100 wins is meaningful.”

He also expressed his determination, saying, “There are many important competitions left in the future,
so I will do my best to achieve the best results possible.”
Attention is being paid to whether Shin Jin-seo will be able to break the highest annual win rate for the remainder of this year and reach the ‘dream win rate’ of 90%.
The highest annual winning rate in domestic Baduk is 88.37%, established by Shin Jin-seo in 2020.
Shin Jin-seo will challenge for an annual winning rate of 90% in the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance World Baduk Masters, LG Cup, and China Gapjo League, which will open on the 16th.
Meanwhile, Kim Eun-ji, ranked second in the women’s rankings, lost that day,
but this year she recorded 92 wins and 45 losses,
a winning rate of 67.15%, and is expected to follow in the footsteps of Shin Jin-seo and achieve 100 wins per year.
