Woods, whose contract with Nike has ended, will likely wear Taylormade’s ‘Sunday Red’
After 27 years with Nike, Tiger Woods (USA), the ‘golf emperor’, is expected to join hands with TaylorMade’s new brand ‘Sunday Red’.
Golf Digest, an American golf media outlet, said on the 21st, “Starting this weekend, predictions about Woods’ new clothing sponsorship are emerging through various social media accounts,” and added, “Taylormade, Woods’ current equipment sponsor, is introducing a new lifestyle brand called ‘Sunday Red.’ “There is a high possibility that he will be in charge of sponsoring Woods’ new clothing,” the report said.
Woods’ sponsorship contract with Nike ended earlier this month.
Woods has been sponsored by Nike since 1996, when he debuted as a professional, and has continued to be sponsored even after Nike virtually withdrew from the golf equipment business in 2016.
TaylorMade’s ‘Sunday Red‘, which was released through golf-related social media, has the initials ‘SDR’ and an image of what appears to be a tiger on a red background.
Woods is famous for wearing a red top and black bottoms every Sunday, the last day of the tournament.
Golf Digest explained, “This is a habit Woods has had since his college days, influenced by his mother.”
Woods’ mother, Kultida, is from Thailand, and red is considered a ‘powerful color’ in Thailand.
Since it is difficult to think of the name ‘Sunday Red’ without Woods, the interpretation that this brand has a contract with Woods in mind is supported.
Woods is expected to officially announce the details of the clothing sponsorship contract ahead of the opening of the Genesis Invitational, a Professional Golf Association (PGA) tour tournament held by the Tiger Woods Foundation in February. 19가이드03
