The end of the business period of the casino complex resort in Golden Terra City (formerly Midan City) in Yeongjong, Incheon, which has been suspended for four years, is just around the corner.

With the complex resort construction site already established as a local hideous object due to four business extensions, attention is focusing on whether the project period will be extended once again.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority on the 10th, a review on extending the business period of the casino complex resort under construction in Golden Terra City, Unbuk-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon, will be held within this month.

Casino Complex Resort, a complex leisure complex based on foreigner-only casinos, is 38,365 square meters, with casinos, luxury hotels, convention facilities, apartment houses, and officetels planned.

RFKR, a project operator and the Korean subsidiary of China’s Puri Group, began construction in September 2017 and has now risen to the 24th floor, but construction has been suspended since February 2020.

Previously, Golden Terra City Casino Complex Resort extended the business period, which was until March 2018, four times: March 2021, March 2022, March 2023, and March 2024.

However, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, “It is difficult to reveal the details because it is just before the review,” adding, “We will announce whether the Golden Terra City Casino Complex Resort project will be extended within this month, so please wait.”

As the deadline has already been extended without progress on the project several times, there are growing calls in the region for related organizations such as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Incheon Economic Office to resolve the resort, which has turned into a hideous object.

“We are consulting with the Ministry of Culture and Sports with a number of options in mind,” an official from the Economic Administration said. “We are cautious about what alternatives to the project as it has not been decided yet. The response of the Incheon Economic Administration will also change depending on what decision is made.”
